"It is not wise to invest time, resources and energy planting rocks in the desert and expecting gardens to grow"

::Site:Premise::
The following project site was developed for EDU P&L 677 on Telecommunications taught by Dr. Ted Hall at the Ohio State University.
The concept and theme of this project is an expression of my personal reflections attained while examining the digital divide. In my studies I have come to the premise, like many others, that the causes of the divide are beyond "digital". Thus, in order to overcome this divide we must dig to its roots. Then we must plant the appropriate seeds, in their proper locations and during their suitable seasons.
For it is not wise to invest time, resources and energy planting rocks in the desert and expecting gardens to grow....
Yes this is easily said, yet difficult in finding the effective solutions.
::Site:Purpose::
In this site my intent is to touch on general concepts of the digital divide and some variables related to it. By no means do I expect to cover all the factors related to the digital divide from my brief assessment of the topic. Rather, I wish for this site to be a platform for my personal expressions and thoughts on the topic that will populate in content as my knowledge in this area increases and is defined. Currently, I observe the site as a portal that will hopefully expose us to ideas and resources that stimulates deeper reflection and will be a basis for further in-depth research as time progresses.
The overall intent is that my studies will lead to quality research or input that enlightens and motivates myself and others in helping alleviate the barriers and the dead roots preventing growth. That we think beyond the material resources and begin observing the environment as a whole to find solutions that will promote the flourishing of gardens...even in the "desert".
Time: 0:38 min ::My:Reflections::
- Even locally in the USA within a 10 minute drive we are able to find the two sides of the Digital Divide.
- Image if the "few" on the "correct" side of the divide did lose the "digital"...How would their functioning in society be affected?
